Working With Car Dealers To Get The Best Deals

Car dealers get a bad reputation for trying to get more money out of you during a deal, but there is a way to make things work to your advantage. You will have to be persistent yet patient at the same time, but you'll be able to get as close to your desired price without too much haggling.

If you don't have the money to buy the car, then you're purchasing power is non-existent. Take out a loan with your bank. While the dealer may offer in-house financing, it's an ace up your sleeve to know you have the money needed without the dealers help.

Research extensively over the internet. There are large websites dedicated to tracking prices and selling automobiles. You may not want to purchase online, but you'll have the ballpark figure for the vehicle you want. At least you'll have an idea whether the salesman's offer is good or not.

Make sure you only have two or three models in mind. That way, you won't be inconsistent or be swayed by promos for other models at the dealership. You will have better negotiating leeway with a less popular car as the dealership will want to move them as quickly as possible.

Next, start emailing and calling dealerships in your area to get a quote. The best ones will be quick to respond and will be very willing to offer different promotional items. Don't be too hasty. When you get different offers, inform them that you got a lower quote from another place and ask them if they can beat it. This may take a week or more, but your patience is the key to getting the best deal.

Once you've selected, it's time to test drive. This is also a good chance to talk and hammer out the fine details like warranties and insurance. If you've done your homework right, you'll find that the car dealers are competing with themselves to get you the lowest prices available.
